Most of us have been faced with a situation where we do not have the right words to comfort someone. We care deeply, but we are just unprepared to handle the situation. This book offers insight into Interpersonal Communication Skills. While this book's focus is on working with students, the same basic skills can be used in any situation. One of the most important aspects of caring is to LISTEN. There is a difference between hearing and listening. Pasqual shares the dynamics of listening and lists things that stop the line of communicating.
The Dynamics To Speak with Care by Eladio Pasqual Ph.D. is written in a simple, easy to read and understand style. The chapters are very short and concise. This is not an in-depth study of Interpersonal Communications, but it does offer the basics. Much of the information is common sense. Unfortunately, we need to be reminded frequently of things that should come naturally. The first few chapters were not well-written. They lacked a consistent flow. The author offers sample dialogue that will be invaluable to the reader. The last few chapters of this book deal with complex problems such as suicidal thoughts. This book would work well as a resource for a Basic Interpersonal Communications Skills class, parents of teens, or middle or high school teachers.
