The Demon Hunter and The Black Skull is thrilling and exciting. Henry Regnault took me on a supernatural adventure of witches, demons, and demon hunters. The plot was brilliantly executed and alternated between the present and the past. I could not wait to read the chapters relating to the past to learn more about the black skull. The descriptions of the events were detailed and left nothing to the imagination. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, and I turned the pages as fast as I could. The characters were well-developed and authentic. They were introduced one at a time, and it was easy to get to know them. My favorite was Cadence. He was kind and caring, despite being a demon hunter. The story is excellently written and has exceeded my expectations by far.

Although this is the fourth in the series, I found it easy to follow along with what was happening in the story. The concept of a half-human, half-demon who chooses to slay demons for the sake of humanity is definitely intriguing, and with a host of interesting characters to go along with it, there is no room for boredom. I enjoyed Cadence's character, although at times he did seem a bit condescending to poor old Finn, but it is very clear by how he acts that he cares deeply for those around him. While there wasn’t much in the way of world-building for this book, considering it is the fourth installment, there was plenty of action and interesting lore. The Demon Hunter and The Black Skull is a good book for anyone looking for a fast-paced supernatural novel.

The dialogue between the characters heightens the suspense as Cadence tries to wangle the truth out of his foes. The storyline takes elements from previous books to create the overall plot of this novel, lacing it with a hint of mystery. Regnault effectively jumps between the past and present to unify all aspects of this story in a fitting finale. With so much going on around him, it's a wonder Cadence still has time to sort out his feelings for Meadow and Samantha in their one-of-a-kind love triangle. If you are looking for a novel with the right mix of horror and action, then The Demon Hunter and the Black Skull is the book for you.

The Demon Hunter and The Black Skull is the fourth book in The Demon Hunter book series by Henry Regnault. I did enjoy the premise behind Henry Regnault's tug-of-war tale between good and evil. The complexity of each character created an interesting read, and, at times, it was difficult to discover who was good and who was not. I found it interesting that Cadence's appearance sometimes changes with his mood and that the angrier he gets, the more evil he looks. The friendships that formed between demons, angels, humans, and witches were quite peculiar, yet they seemed to work. I feel that adult fans of the paranormal will find their literary tastes perfectly catered to after reading this next chapter in The Demon Hunter book series.
