The Curse by Jina S. Bazzar follows Yoncey Fosch, the clan leader of the Unseelie Dhiultadh in his quest to save his people from a plague sweeping through the land. The only problem is the only person he can turn to is none other than the consort of Queen Titania. In order to obtain the needed items to get rid of the curse Yoncey makes a deal with Oberon. It isn’t until a year later that he discovers that in exchange for the binding stones he will have to sire a half-human, half-Fee offspring. Initially, he thinks nothing of this but when he meets a woman and falls in love with her he realizes he may have to give up their beloved daughter.
The Curse by Jina S. Bazzar was an interesting story albeit a bit short. We are introduced to Yoncey from the start and made to understand his accomplishments and status. From there we learn of the plague and that only by making a deal with Fee royalty can he save his people and his brother. It is at this point where the story truly becomes fast-paced and we jump timelines which were a bit confusing. This book is set as a prequel to another and although it can stand alone in terms of plot I think it is lacking in detail when read on its own. Other than that the book was well written with a multitude of interesting characters and lore and I enjoyed reading it.
