Meet Dan who is supposed to be a fire dog in The Cookie Eating Fire Dog by Lida Sideris. Dan was supposed to pull on his shiny black boots, slip into his bright yellow coat, and put on his red hat whenever the fire bell rang in the fire station. Whenever the fire bell rang, the firefighters jumped onto the fire truck and raced away to the fire. However, Dan jumped onto the fire station couch whenever the fire bell rang, made himself comfortable, and ate cookies. The fire chief was not too happy with Dan's behavior. The next time the fire bell rang, two fire fighters carried Dan over to the fire truck and lifted him on board. When they reached the place, all the fire fighters hurried to fight the fire, but Dan had found a bag of peanut butter cookies. Will Dan change and start helping the fire fighters?
