Author Biography

Long before she wrote The Butterfly That Returned, Serene Martin was an Assistant Superintendent at a maximum-security prison and a college teacher. In her life experiences, she saw the stifling consequences of social conditioning and external pressure on individuals. She became increasingly drawn instead towards the often underestimated power of intuition. In a world of ceaseless distractions, her writing visits an authentic place of conscious knowing within the reach of everyone who has the courage to follow the call of their heart.

When she's not writing, you can find Serene travelling, doing yoga, finishing a bar of chocolate and hunting for easier ways to transition to a vegan diet.Born and raised in Singapore, she now manages Serenity Secrets as an international Transformational Life Coach and Yoga Instructor.

The Butterfly That Returned by Serene Martin is a collection of uplifting messages that will make readers look into themselves, their perspectives on life and living. 'Call it faith. Call it the law of attraction. Call it the placebo effect. Call it God. Call it inspiration. Call it magic. Call it religion. Call it energy. Call it good luck. Call it whatever you want and get on with it. Because life is so much better when you believe there are larger forces working for you and with you. Because you are never alone.' This quote captures the essence of the rest of the messages shared in the book and can be incorporated into one's daily life without much difficulty.

The messages are inspirational as well as motivational and they are easy to apply and practice. Everything in the book is what readers already know but have pushed aside due to the busy lives they lead. The book is profound and it reaches out to all readers, especially those searching for calm and peace in their lives, and also some encouragement to make changes in their way of living. All the quotes have been put together in a very beautiful and aesthetic manner. The author's words are a celebration of happiness and self-worth and they evoke a good feeling while one is reading. It's a book I will recommend to have in one's personal collection.

Author Serene Martin has captured a bit of magic with her words. Each snippet she offers up in The Butterfly That Returned is laced with profound knowledge and yet simple in the telling, leading the reader deeper into their own consciousness. Ms. Martin's writings remind me favorably of the poems and prose of Nikki Giovanni in how she brings to life the everyday fabric of reality woven in a tapestry of love. Here's to hoping Ms. Martin continues on with a long and illustrious writing career bringing us much more of her fabulous work.

Beautiful and introspective. Part funny, part serious. I think people who live in a hurried pace will relate very well to this book. It's short but powerful. Thank you for it.
