The story follows the author’s own personal journey as she describes how she moved to New York in the hopes of becoming a Broadway star, and her inspirational money management revelations along the way. The author presents the material with such a candid, humorous and relatable narrative that readers will find it endearing. The book is filled with a variety of helpful tips and tricks of what the author did to achieve a fulfilling and balanced financial life, and what readers can take away from it and apply to their own lives.
I found The Broke and Beautiful Life: Small Town Budget, Big City Dreams to be a very inspirational and motivational read. O’Connell presented her story is such a fun and humorous way that I think will draw readers in. I was really rooting for her during the story and loved all the little money management tidbits she found out along the way. The narrative is very raw, witty and amusing; it was like hearing a story from an old friend over coffee. Finances can be an intimidating and embarrassing (if you have problems in this area) topic and O'Connell tells it like it is, but in a very easy-to-understand format. I would recommend The Broke and Beautiful Life: Small Town Budget, Big City Dreams by Stefanie O’Connell to anyone looking to organize and improve their financial situation.
