Throughout his teenage years, Native American Fred was one of those guys who was always playing pranks on his friends and classmates. In their little town of Granite Falls, everyone knew everyone else and of course their business, too. Jobs were in the logging industry, silver mining or farming so there was not a lot of money, yet they seemed to make it just fine. Join the author as she tells of the adventures that have been passed down through the years about her ancestor, Fred Ballard.

"The Boy From Granite Falls" is a heartwarming flashback of the life of Fred Ballard and an insight into the life of family living in the mountains. This book has a wonderful, well written plot with adventure and humor that keeps your interest until the very end. The characters were fun and enjoyable. You will enjoy the trip back to life in the 1930's. I recommend this book to anyone wanting a nice light humorous read.

The author has gleaned heritage and created tales to share not only with her children but also the world. This is an easy book to read, geared towards children but a great book for adults, too. I understand that the next book in the series will have maps and more chapters (You can contact the author by going to the book website). I wrote her and she responded immediately. One of the many things that I love about the author's writing is that she takes the time to create a vivid visual for the reader. I feel as if I am right there with the characters in the book. It makes me want to read more! I can't wait for the next book, which she says will be out in September 2011. Apparently, this will be a six book series with book three scheduled to be released right before Christmas 2011 and the rest by September 2012. You will not be sorry to step into the world of Fred Ballard, his buddy Rudy and dog Tubby. I hope to see her on the best seller list and in libraries; her writing is a soon to be discovered gem!!
