The Biography of Prophets is a non-fiction Christian Biblical Study and Prophecy work written by Javon Rahman Bertrand. Bertrand is an author and apostle of the Restoration of Love Deliverance Center. He begins his study of the prophets with an examination of what a prophet is and by differentiating the prophetic mantle, the mandate and the anointing. The mantle is the calling by God directly to the prophet, which is passed on from earlier prophets. The mandate is the mission God chooses for each prophet. The anointing accompanies the mantle and the resulting healing and deliverance of his people, and the occurrence of miracles manifests the power of God through his prophet.

Prophets, Bertrand argues, are not just figures from the distant past, but exist today and perform the essential service of being God's messengers. They are God's voice and reveal to man the secrets and wonders of His kingdom. As believers, it is essential that the role of the prophets in speaking God's word be fully comprehended. Bertrand discusses common misconceptions about the prophets, and the all-encompassing fact that they only confirm the word of God and do not of themselves create the word. He presents the biographies of well-known prophets such as Samuel, Isaiah and Elijah, and then discusses lesser-known, or overlooked, prophets such as Anna, the Temple Prophet, Silas, the Team Prophet, and Iddo, the Grandfather Prophet.

Javon Rahman Bertrand's non-fiction Christian Biblical Study and Prophecy work, The Biography of Prophets, is a well-presented and thought-provoking look at prophets and prophecy, both from biblical times and in the modern-day world. I was intrigued by his insights and cautions on the concept, and inherent dangers, of false prophets and appreciated his scholarly analysis and debunking of the common misconceptions about prophets. The selection of prophets he includes in this book is especially interesting as he gives extensive historical data surrounding each prophet's life and influence on the church and state. The passages he uses from Scripture are always relevant to his subject and are a great help in fully assimilating his message. The Biography of Prophets is highly recommended.

The Biography of Prophets by Javon Rahman Bertrand is not your typical book on prophets. It aims to offer insight into their lives, and create more of a person from the myth, to help the reader understand the life and assignment of a prophet. The Biography of Prophets states that being a prophet cannot be learned; it is the acceptance of an eternal call. For each prophet within the bindings, Javon Rahman Bertrand delves into their life, discussing their family, how they discovered their calling as a prophet, their tasked assignment, and their death. It covers the major transitions in their lives, creating a more human and complete image of figures held in an almost inhuman regard.

The Biography of Prophets is a very educational book, even to those who have spent much time in the study of religion. For instance, it discusses what a mantle actually is. Whilst one of material is worn i.e. a robe, this is not the prophet's actual mantle - such a thing cannot be crafted by man as it is breathed by God. It is the calling itself. It also works to correct misunderstandings and ambiguities, helping the reader to gain a truer understanding of these figures, be they prophets of the past, present, or future, and supports its claims by referencing various passages from the Bible, as well as drawing on the author's own experience and research. It not only covers the more widely known prophets, but those often overlooked or forgotten. I appreciated how the book's conclusion inspires further reading on those interested in the topic. I have spent many years studying various forms of religion and found this book to be an informative and well-presented discussion, written at a level that is accessible to all.

In an interesting and intriguing new work by author Javon Rahman Bertrand, The Biography of Prophets is a book that many readers will find engrossing from the very start all the way through until the very last pages. Providing an intense scriptural look into the lives of the prophets and their ministries, this book serves as an excellent guide for those looking for more information on how the prophets lived, both with an aim of historical education as well as to give readers examples to follow. Author Javon Rahman Bertrand has done a great job in showing the prophets as real people, not larger than life entities that many would have difficulty in believing that they could be like.

I very much enjoyed The Biography of Prophets. Author Javon Rahman Bertrand has done a great job in creating a book that brings biblical prophets down to a very realistic and possibly even attainable level for the common man. This feat is certainly no easy task, and the author should be commended on his efforts in this area. Any Christian reader who has ever had a desire to know more about the prophets, who has ever hoped to become more prophet-like in their own life, or any person striving to just be a better Christian in general should absolutely read this book. I am pleased to be able to recommend The Biography of Prophets, and I certainly hope that author Javon Rahman Bertrand is working on another book in this area. I, for one, will be watching for it!
