In The Angel Tea House: Maggie McCready Travelling Tarot Adventures by Melody R. Green, Maggie is spiritually connected and uses her gift for good when she moves to Angel Hill and rents a flat near The Angel Tea House, run by Lucy. As Maggie senses negative energies on Angel Street, she prepares for her mission. At a business meeting, Maggie helps Lucy and uncovers an intense connection between Lucy and Tobias “Toby” Black. Maggie's work is with tarot readings and generally facing the chaos caused by an arch-demon. Maggie sets some light roots, rescues a dog named Dodger, and gets busy trying to see that justice is served, criminals are arrested, and setting Angel Street free from dark forces.
Maggie McCready Travelling Tarot Adventures looks to be a charmed series and The Angel Tea House as my first read was a delight! In some ways, and especially with Maggie's transient lifestyle, it feels like a more contemporary and reader-accessible story than Joanne Harris' Chocolat. Set in sleepy England, Maggie's unwavering dedication to her mission and reliance on her intuition, cards, and spirit guides make her more of a force. My heart warmed when the graffiti attack on Angel Street sparked a transformative idea and a plan for the Autumn Nights Café. It's a turning point where a negative event became a positive gathering that strengthened the community against adversity. The dark forces are very dark and test the light Maggie has that empowers her to persevere and protect the innocent. Author Melody R. Green employs plenty of takeaways to help us assess our real-world lives, and with a series of tea blends in the back to boot, I'm looking forward to seeing what Maggie is up to in the next town.
