The Adventures of Venessa & Teddy by MieJoiee McClinton is a delightful storybook for children that revolves around Venessa, a bunny, and her best friend, Teddy, a bear. Venessa loves adventures and if she is not exploring or going on adventures, you can find her playing with her friends most of the time. One day, chasing after butterflies, Venessa goes into the forest. There she meets Mr Judge, a very large tortoise who is also the oldest and wisest animal in the forest. It is there in the forest near the river that she meets Teddy and they become friends. But then a game of hide-and-seek puts both of them in trouble as they get caught up in the game.
It's an adorable story with an unexpected ending. Kids will love the adventures of Venessa and Teddy. The story is simple and fun, and the illustrations give it good pace and movement and make the scenes more vivid. It's a good bedtime storybook and is also good for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. Children get to know about animals living in the forest and the book is also helpful in improving their vocabulary. The book has an underlying concept of true friendship that runs through the story once Venessa meets Teddy. It is a breezy and light read and will make children want to be adventurous like Venessa and Teddy. The story is cute and a good read for children in 4-6th grade age groups.
