The Adventures of the Four Little Monkeys: Who Brought Genuine Love and Unity to Maasai Mara Game Reserve by Saustin S.K. Mfune is a modern day fable aimed at young adults. Red-tailed monkeys Punkey, Shulley, and Lankey, and Vervet monkey Skankey live in Maasai Mara, a beautiful natural game reserve located in Kenya. Friends when they were young, the youngsters' parents discourage their closeness as they grow older because they belong to different species. Confused at first, they follow their parents' command and grow apart. It is then that they find out that they are not living in paradise at all. And as they mature into adulthood, they realize that there is something very wrong in the world that they live in.
Saustin S.K. Mfune's The Adventures of the Four Little Monkeys is a delightful story about four monkeys growing up in the paradisaical Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Their paradise is quickly shattered when they come of age and they realize that different monkey species are not allowed to be friends. Saustin S.K. Mfune's book is truly an eye opener not only for young adults, but for general readers as well. This story is actually a social commentary on what is happening in the human world where racism seems to be the norm and hate prevails. Set in the beautiful Maasai Mara Game Reserve, it also provides its readers with information about the various animals that inhabit the place. And in the midst of this discord, The Adventures of the Four Little Monkeys offers some hope, and it's up to the younger generation to reclaim the paradise that they inhabit.
