Tempting His True Mate is the second book in The True Mate Shifter Series by Lynne Stewart. While preparing for their mating ceremony, Mariam and Trace greet Ella - Mariam's older sister - in a house busy with mayhem at the Tumblewild Pack. As she is settling into her room, a loud crash at the bedroom door abruptly introduces Ella to Gabriel, the pack's Omega, who declares she is his mate. Ella is disappointed he is no giant like Trace, and while her wolf adores Gabe, Ella promptly rejects him, returning to the Dark Claw Pack with her Alpha, Jeremy. Back home, Jeremy suggests his Beta, Neil, as a potential mate for Ella, and she agrees to try it. But things don't turn out so well.
It truly was a joy reading the second in this series. I couldn't help but be shocked by who Ella's mate pairing was with but was delighted to see all the familiar names from the first book. Issues such as sexual assault and kidnapping are mentioned - a trigger warning to readers - but worded in a way that is not too graphic. With many new dilemmas facing the two packs, readers will find that there is much healing to be done once the Dark Claw Pack finds itself not only without a Beta but also without the many pack members who deserted. Those who hunger for werewolf romance will fall in love with the characters in Tempting His True Mate, but please ensure you read the books in the order that they are released. I highly recommend Tempting His True Mate to all paranormal fans over the age of 15 years.
