Teed Off! A Riley Quinn Mystery by Nicola Furlong is murder mystery at its best. Riley Quinn used to be a professional golfer but an accident put paid to her career. Now she’s a part time coroner and helps to run the local golf club in an area ripe for development. When her brother-in-law, who is also her boss, turns up dead, Riley takes it on herself to investigate his murder. She finds herself up against an environmental group, a strange consortium of Japanese businessmen and her sister, whom she hasn’t really spoken to since the accident that finished her career. On top of that, Riley is forced to face up to her past; a past she thought was long buried.
Teed Off! A Riley Quinn Mystery by Nicola Furlong is a very witty and sharp murder mystery. I have to admit that I struggled a bit when I first started reading it, but all I can say is stick with it – it’s worth it! As well as being very informative about the world of professional golf, it was laugh out loud in places. It was difficult to guess who the culprit was, which says a lot for me as far as murder mystery books go – I normally find that I know who did it half way through! This is a well-written novel, clearly thoroughly researched and the characters are wonderful – you can picture them in your mind’s eye as you read. I hope there is more where this came from, as it was a thoroughly enjoyable read.
