Symbiosis by Milagros Lasarte tells the story of a seemingly perfect neighborhood in the town of LV. Unfortunately, the peaceful existence of the residents is disrupted when Monica, a new neighbor, moves into the Hovel, a house with a mysterious history, just like its twin neighboring house, number 6, where Mr. Martin resides. The renovation of the Hovel brings it back to life, but it also highlights the dilapidation of number 6. Initially, the veteran neighbors decide to welcome Monica, hoping she will be a great addition to their well-run community. However, as they observe her peculiar behavior and unconformity, they begin to view her as a potential threat that could disrupt the balance of their neighborhood. They start watching her every move, trying to figure out her motives and her unusual connection with the reclusive Mr. Martin. They try their best to salvage their community's energy, which has been thrown out of balance due to Monica's arrival.

Symbiosis is a well-written story that skillfully combines humor and suspense to captivate readers. Milagros Lasarte addresses social issues by exploring the 'you against us' mentality that many people experience when they move to a new area. What may seem like an effort to bring positive change can often be viewed as rebellion by some. The narrative has a palpable tension that stands out, making it clear that something major is about to happen. The author's creativity is astounding, with perfectly layered scenes that leave the reader in awe. The comparisons and little monologues throughout are amusing and a great source of entertainment. Overall, I enjoyed this story, and I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
