Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus is a work of fiction in the science fiction and fantasy sub-genres and was penned by author Joe Canzano. Written for adult audiences due to some scenes of violence, use of explicit language, and reference to adult themes and situations, this is a quick read with plenty of light fun and adventure for casual sci-fi and fantasy readers. Our titular heroine Suzy is an outlaw who makes a trip to Venus to attempt to redeem her reputation. Once there, however, she finds herself in much deeper turmoil than ever before, embroiled in a world of gangs and revolutions.

Author Joe Canzano has crafted a high stakes action novel that encompasses many different genres into its unique breed of fun, including crime drama, science fiction, fantasy adventure, and women’s action fiction. The protagonist Suzy is highly likable for her smarts and inventiveness, whilst also appealing in her nature as a misunderstood outlaw who will cross lines only when she really needs to. The criminal mystery elements of the plot are well-paced out to keep you guessing, with lots of twists and well-laid surprises for us to uncover through Suzy’s eyes. I thought the dialogue and the presentation were particularly slick, delivering stylish lines that also characterized new figures in scenes right away and set the mood well. Overall, I would highly recommend Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus to fantasy fans seeking a fun multi-genre journey to go on without having to concentrate but just enjoy the ride.

Suzy Spitfire is looking for redemption; no more running, killing, or be involved in violence. A new life. Being a wanted outlaw renders her dream near impossible but a lucrative assignment to search for a vicious criminal called Shogun Hunter in Venus gives her hope. Understandably, Suzy wants to change her life and a job in Venus seems to be the ticket out of her dangerous fate-that is until a group called the Snake Eyes gets in her way. Yet, trouble finds her even before she reaches her destination. Suzy Spitfire And The Snake Eyes Of Venus is a sci-fi adventure by Joe Canzano. Where there's Suzy Spitfire, there's trouble.

The protagonist just couldn't catch a break but luckily she's resilient and resourceful enough to weather any challenges that come her way. The futuristic world-building is impressive with all the wonderful tech. I wonder when will hover cars become a reality for us? With its fast-paced plot and clear writing, there are plenty of suspenseful moments, adrenaline-pumping actions, and adult scenes that are solidly handled by Joe Canzano for the targeted mature reader. Suzy is sympathetic enough towards others but also ruthless when she needs to be, traits that she prominently shows in the early chapters when she deals with two unwanted stowaways in her ship. All in all, the combination of sci-fi adventure, crime, and some romance makes Canzano's Suzy Spitfire And The Snake Eyes Of Venus a thrilling story, and I look forward to reading more in this series.

Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus by Joe Canzano is a science fiction thriller that takes us from Earth to Venus, where Suzy Spitfire gets caught up in a people-power revolution against the corrupt and evil government of Venus, along with the secretive, elusive and power-hungry Snake Eyes cult. Suzy is a wanted criminal on Earth after killing a police officer who had murdered her father and a man who had abused and tortured her baby sister, who later committed suicide, following a period of being sex-trafficked. Her real goal though is to catch an evil and vicious serial killer who has changed his identity and is believed to be now living quietly on Venus. Suzy is a loner, by virtue of her lifestyle, but she has discovered a love for a tough gang member, Ricardo, and his inept and soppy poetry. But it is only when the sweet but far from innocent Kiara stows aboard her spaceship that Suzy’s truly compassionate and loving nature comes to the fore when Kiara reminds her so much of her own departed sister. Suzy will do anything to protect Kiara from danger but she must not lose sight of her original purpose in coming to Venus – to hunt down the serial-killer Shogun Hunter and make sure he never has the opportunity to destroy any more lives.

Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus is not a pure science fiction story; it just happens to be set sometime in the future, with the bulk of the action taking place on Venus. It is a political thriller in some ways and a superb one at that. The “geeky” stuff so often prevalent in sci-fi is not in this story and I appreciated that. Author Joe Canzano has done a wonderful job in creating a diverse cast of characters, especially Suzy, Ricardo, and Kiara who elicit empathy and understanding from the reader. Suzy is a tough, courageous, and tenacious leading lady but she is also softened by her “flaws”. She has a heart and she constantly questions her lifestyle, the decisions she’s made, and her own personal makeup. Kiara, who has seen much pain in her first fourteen years, still retains the sweet innocence and idol worship of Suzy, which makes her so appealing to a reader and also to Suzy as a big sister. Through it all, Ricardo, a rough-around-the-edges gang member with his atrocious poetry and a deep love of Suzy, plods along through the adventure, determined not to lose the love of his life. The action is fast, furious, and copious which, combined with the sweetness and humanity of the lead characters, lifts this story above its competition in the genre. This is a standalone novel but the author leaves a big door for the next installment should he choose to write it and I, for one, hope he does. Suzy Spitfire and her cadre have endeared themselves to me and I would like to see more from them. I can highly recommend this book – a great read.

When the hunter becomes the hunted, bullets fly in all directions. Suzy ‘Spitfire’ Castillo flies to Venus to capture a serial killer while she's being tagged by bounty hunters and cops alike. Even if she escapes her hunters, she can't escape her past. She can, however, attempt to leave her dangerous lifestyle behind and be a great role model for Kiara, her new teenage friend. Suzy's salvation is challenged when she's dragged into a war for power between the Snake Eyes gang, the Casino Cartel, the politicians, and the revolutionists. Prepare for an action-packed ride in Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus. The road to redemption is filled with unexpected twists and turns, and Joe Canzano finds a way to keep the reader gripped for every exciting, heart-racing moment of it.

I just had to know what would happen next! Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus is quite immersive and well written. Adding to the thrill are the brilliant technological advancements and exciting space adaptations illustrated by Joe Canzano: floating cities, bio-engineered hair, and clothes that change colors, memory reprogrammers, body-heat-tracking darts, and much more. Be assured that the tech details do not bog down the story. I recommend this to a mature audience because violence, profanity, and sexual content are present. I had a lot of fun with Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus; it is one of those books that make you wish the worldbuilding was real and we were all flying in space ships and living across planets.

Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus by Joe Canzano is the story of a gun-slinger, no-holds-barred, sarcastic heroine who knows how to get the job done. Suzy has a bounty on her head, but that is not going to stop Suzy from getting the job done. She is a force to be reckoned with and she knows it. So, when she is approached by a powerful woman to track down a serial killer and bring him to justice, Suzy cannot help but take up the case. Even with a bounty on her head and hunters dogging her steps, she travels to Venus to get the job done. But it is not easy, especially when she realizes that Venus is not a safe place for anyone at all. To find her serial killer, Suzy will first have to keep away from the drug wars and gang violence that seem to be at the core of this planet and also stay one step ahead of her hunters. Can Suzy do what it takes to get the job done?

In Suzy Spitfire and the Snake Eyes of Venus by Joe Canzano, Suzy is a livewire and she knows it. She has a boatload of spunk and spark in her body, she takes the time to appreciate the best around her, and boldly stands up for what she believes in. Her reactions were a delight to read, she is very expressive and demands the attention of readers. The very entertaining plot itself is packed with action; it has just the right amount of adrenaline-inducing mystery and chases to keep the reader glued to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed how Suzy interacted with other characters; her back story added more substance to the plot and her growth is tremendous. The banter between her and Ricardo had me laughing out loud at times. They have a lot of tension between them yet it does not distract the reader from the main plot. I love Suzy and I cannot wait to read more about her.
