Superhighway by James Oldman is a whimsical children's short story about the adventures along the Superhighway. Superhighway is an easy-to-read book that children will love as they walk through the adventures of the characters and see the world from the characters' perspectives. Rocco, his wife Adrian, their children - eight-year-old Molly and sixteen-year-old Turmole - and their grandfather are all packed up and ready to begin their journey. As they set out on a road trip to their new home, the family embark on Route 65. Molly and Turmole were enjoying the trip and decided to settle in the back while the adults were in the front. As quick as you can say Jiminy Cricket, the truck shifted, causing Molly and Turmole to be thrown from the back of the truck, unbeknownst to their parents and grandfather. The journey begins as Molly and Turmole try to find their way home and reconnect with the adults.
I found Superhighway by James Oldman to be quite humorous because the story hinges on the world of animals; from moles to weasels and their underground community. The Superhighway is the underground world that these animals use to transition from one location to another in secret. “...The elders called a meeting and decided if a big tunnel could be built which ran up and down the length of all the villages, a sort of superhighway, then movement would be much easier and safer.” Children will enjoy living vicariously through the characters of Superhighway by James Oldman, so pick up a copy today.
