Springtime Baby by Elise Broach is an absolutely delightful board book for children. The story takes children on a baby's fun-filled spring day, making mud pies, puddle jumping, smelling flowers, and meeting up with all types of springtime pals. The illustrations are amazing and very detailed so you can spend a lot of time showing a child different things in each picture. The text is simple, the timing is great, and it's a nice read-aloud story.
The book is thick and there are seven flaps that lift with more beautiful illustrations. The flaps lift easily and they are sturdy so there's no worry about wearing off after extended use. There's a surprise under each flap! The age for this book is listed at 0-3 but older children will enjoy it as well. My six-year-old granddaughter loves it and the text is easy so she can read it on her own. She loves the flaps. I think the author or publisher has the age listed a bit low. While it's a nice read-aloud book for toddlers, older children will enjoy is equally as much.
The only disappointment is that there is no "About the Author" anywhere on the book and after I finished reading it I did want to know more about such a creative person. It is a book that can be enjoyed over and over again without growing tired of it. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a children's book that isn't only adorable, but educational as well.
