Go on a writing adventure with the cute puppy, Sophia, in the excellent children's educational book, Sophia Wants to Write a Book by Marie White. With beautiful illustrations and engaging story prompts, this story is an enticing first book of writing for budding young authors. I was impressed with how so few words can produce such fabulous results. This book is an excellent resource for the reluctant reader, as well as the frustrated young writer. The story prompts are designed for the child to become aware of the mechanics of writing, as well as writing basics, teaching the four basic questions -- Who, How, Where, and Why -- then gently leading the child into points of view. I would highly suggest this book as a gift to the author-in-training, or for use as a learning tool in the classroom. I appreciated how the story drew to a close, informing the young writer that they were now an author, and gave them encouragement to continue writing. This book is perfect for children ages seven to teens.
