Something Special Just for You by Ardrian Newell is a short collection of poetry that speaks directly from the heart of the author. These inspirational works are sure to do as they are intended and range from the beautiful to the unique. The categorization of the book was nice, and directed so that if you are looking for one type of poem, you could easily find it without having to read through the entire book. The four categories were "Something Special for Everyone", "Something Special for the Lovers", "Something Special for the Community", and "Something Special for a Few Individuals".
I believe my favorite section to be "Something Special for the Lovers" (after all, I am a romantic at heart!) and found quite a bit to relate to when looking over this section. Twitter-Pated/Growing Pains was a particular punch in the gut that brought me forcibly back to my shy and tentatively flirty days of being a high schooler and having my first boyfriend. My one complaint would be punctuation, though I suppose it is up to the poet's discretion as to treating punctuation. I always feel incomplete without my commas and dashes.
Ardrian Newell is a new poet to me, but I did enjoy Something Special Just for You immensely. The titular poem was very sweet and genuine, and I really felt that I got an accurate reading of the positivity in which Newell views the world. The poems are written in an easy to understand format and don't have the pretentiously exaggerated word choices that you tend to find in books of poetry nowadays.
