Sally Basmajian's So Hard to Do is an engrossing read. The characters are well thought out and serve as the story's foundation. In the novel's first section, I was annoyed with Jannie because she could not do even the most basic tasks. The moment her mother left she fell apart and made mistakes, one after the other. I thought she was too reliant on her mother and needed to grow up and become independent. Her mother was also at fault for letting it get that far, but she recognized her daughter's flaws and tried to rectify them by leaving and giving Jannie no choice but to deal with things on her own. I was so invested in the story because of the engaging characters and the addictive plot. The romance blossomed rather well despite the complications along the way. The story's pace was perfect, and I adored how everyone grew throughout the tale, especially Jannie. She didn't start out perfect and made many mistakes but learned from her experiences. Overall, I enjoyed reading So Hard to Do and was glad everyone got their deserved ending. Good job!

So Hard to Do is a romantic comedy by Sally Basmajian. Suze cannot wait to start her new life after years of looking after her daughter, Jannie. Jannie needed special help to get through school, and Suze was devoted to her. Jannie has a successful career and can afford a condo in an upscale neighborhood, but she is still dependent on her mother. On Jannie’s first night alone, she started a fire in her microwave and flooded her flat. Aram, a neighbor, saw the smoke and helped Jannie extinguish the fire. Suze heard about the flood on the news and went to Jannie’s condo to find out if she was involved. Suze met Aram, who took her to his condo when she fainted in the elevator. Aram falls head over heels for Suze and wants to get to know her better.

So Hard to Do revolves around three adults who are challenged by life. It was fast-paced with enough action to keep me hooked. One chapter flows into the other, and it was easy to read. The story is told from the mother’s perspective, who was always devoted to her daughter, and the daughter’s perspective who is too dependent on her mother. The characters were brilliant and authentic. My favorite character is Jannie. She lacks people skills, and her efforts to be a friend and leader at work were hilarious. I enjoyed Jannie’s growth throughout the plot. The story was excellently written and funny. It exceeded my expectations by far, and it was much more than I expected.
