Sky Foil by Gerry Burke is a story of terrorist attacks planned for America. The story starts with a body falling from the sky. When a plane wreck follows after this body into the Atlantic Ocean, the best agents are alerted to find the source of the attacks, get ahead of any future attacks, and stop them. Agents David Mackrell from M15 and his team partner with Steve Small from M16 and his team to form the special forces for this mission. As British and American intelligence unites against perpetrators from Canada and Mexico, Burke reveals the many conspirators and the perpetrators of the attacks. The unraveling of this mystery is both deadly and amusing.
Sky Foil by Gerry Burke is fast-paced, fascinating, and imaginative. I enjoyed reading it primarily because of the witty undertone that Burke works in throughout the book. There are many characters in this book, but each has unique traits, and despite the seriousness of terrorism, Burke managed to keep the story light-hearted and entertaining. This book has multiple characters, each with unique and quirky personality traits, and the banter and dialogue between the characters seem believable. I enjoyed the comments about the US President who persisted in playing golf to win $200 despite the plan of an attack to kill him and the CIA head, Sam Mowerman. The commentary from agitated characters like the Boeing CEO and Sam, who also risk a lot due to the President's stubbornness, was incredibly humorous. It makes one ponder whether similar conversations could likely play out during actual terrorist invasions or other threats.
