Skeletons ARE NOT Spooky! by Duds and Kaine is a children’s picture book that demonstrates funny illustrations in such a way so that children are not afraid of skeletons. The narration of the book is told so that there is a chuckle to be had on every page. The cartoon depictions of the ins and outs of the main character’s day are colorful and seamless, bringing a wonderful synergetic atmosphere to the entire book.
Duds and Kaine’s children’s picture book, Skeletons ARE NOT Spooky! is the book that I wish I had read as a child. Skeletons were really terrifying for me and yet the older I get, the more drawn I am to them, even though they make me uneasy, maybe because of that. If I were to guess what would be at the top of a child’s fear list, a skeleton would definitely be at the very top, or if not, in the top five at least. I feel that Skeletons ARE NOT Spooky! is really going to be beneficial for children to curb that fear and turn it into something that is light-hearted. Duds and Kaine have truly found the perfect happy medium that will do just that and more for children. This is definitely a book that I would recommend to family homes as well as to elementary schools so that it can be used as not just a fun pastime but as a tool to help all those youngsters with the same fear.
