Sir Pigglesworth's Adventures in Cozumel (Sir Pigglesworth Adventure Series Book 6) by JoAnn Wagner and Sara Dean is a funny children's book starring an ornery little pig. It is JoAnn's birthday! As a special birthday surprise, her husband, Bill, Sir Pigglesworth's friend, Serena, and Sir Pigglesworth are taking JoAnn on a cruise to Mexico. What kind of mischief can one pig and a little girl do on a cruise ship? All sorts! After being thrown off the Captain's Deck, out of the galley, and several other places, you would think that Sir Pigglesworth and Serena can't get into any more trouble. Think again. Sir Pigglesworth and Serena ride the waves on a jet-ski, explore the underbelly of the ocean in a glass-bottom boat, and get a little "piggy" in a candy store. Can they get into any more mischief? You betcha!
This book was a delight to read. Written for 6-10 year olds, it is a cute chapter book, complete with enough pictures to keep the young reader interested while helping them enhance their reading skills and vocabulary. The pictures are colorful and the story is fun and lively, set in a colorful, exotic location. The characters are enchanting and the situations humorous. I loved all the mischief that Sir Pigglesworth and Serena got into. Their attitudes and the way they reacted to the adults' frustrations told me that the author understands children. I saw my younger brother in Sir "Danger" Pigglesworth and my younger sister in Serena.
In the back of the book, the author has thoughtfully added a page titled "Places of Interest" with links to the websites of several unique places that Sir Pigglesworth and Serena visited. The reader can keep learning even after they stop reading. I enjoyed Sir Pigglesworth's Adventures in Cozumel. Its characters were charming and the story an adventure. I will be looking for more Sir Pigglesworth Adventures to share with my family.
