Sir Pigglesworth's Adventures in Bermuda by JoAnn Wagner and Sara Dean is book five in the Sir Pigglesworth Adventure Series. This elementary age graded picture book features a cast of silly and lovable animals, of whom the most noteworthy is the title character, Sir Pigglesworth. Sir Pigglesworth is a quirky and humorous pig who takes readers on fun and educational adventures. He's a somewhat wacky, somewhat clumsy, somewhat curious, but all-round really fun children's book character! In this book, Sir Pigglesworth takes a cruise to Bermuda. And as with the other Sir Pigglesworth books, readers know by now that he doesn't do anything the ordinary way. From breaking down his dance moves to swimming with sharks, to learning all there is to know about the exciting place called Bermuda, there's never a dull moment here.
The story is brought to vivid life by illustrator David Darchicourt's bright and humorous illustrations. The author's even added an educational element to the book to promote learning new facts about the world around us, along with reading, and includes details about Bermuda here and there. As a mom, I liked the extra educational elements and did not find them forced or misplaced in the story. I think kids will come away from this book laughing from the fun story, but also able to quote a few new facts about what they learned. I look forward to checking out more Sir Pigglesworth books in the future. I would recommend this book and series to elementary age children, probably in the 1st to 4th grade range.
