Sing It for Me by John Lawton Jeffcoat, Jr. is a splendid composition of lyrics, poems, and words that will inspire readers profoundly, an interesting compendium featuring lyrics that touch on a diversity of themes; some read like conversations, others like insightful monologues, and others are descriptive. They explore powerful emotions of love, empathy, prayer, grief, and a lot more. The lyrics feature a diversity of styles, including pop music, Gospel, the old rock ‘n roll, reggae, country music, and others. These are words written by a thoughtful, imaginative mind that aims to inspire and delight readers and music lovers. Get ready to dance, “chained to the rhythm,” the glorious rhythm of a music that reaches to the very soul of humanity.
I laughed, I cried, and sang for joy while reading some of the lyrics, wondering what melodies would be most suitable for some of my favorite ones. “That’s When I Will Say Good-bye” is one of my favorites of John Lawton Jeffcoat's lyrics, well-chosen words that powerfully put the singer in a situation where they have to say “enough is enough” and choose to follow their heart. I loved the lines below:
“There’s only so much any man can stand
At some point, he’ll draw a line in the sand
I’m tired of pretending everything’s okay
I am putting you on notice. I’m not going to stay.”
This is a gorgeous, inspiring collection of lyrics that captures a multitude of moments, sentiments, situations, and thoughts that fill the day-to-day life of ordinary people. These songs will delight fans and arouse the loftiest feelings and thoughts in them. It was pure delight reading and listening to them.
