Sinful Relations by K.A. Standen weaves around the tragically lonely life of Sarah (aka: Liz) whose life has been a roller-coaster of running away, yet she cannot fathom why. Having lived her entire life in an orphanage, Sarah is not worldly. She is anything but. She is a travesty of loneliness and confusion. Diagnosed – rightly or wrongly - as suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, because the doctors could not determine otherwise, she lives her life aimlessly, because everything she had loved is gone. Her one true love, Zack, dies, leaving her bewildered and angry and guilty. She did not cause his death but feels responsible for it.
As she moves from one location to another trying to find her destiny, she encounters a somewhat crazy lady who sends her on a journey of discovery. The journey answers many of the unspoken questions that have invaded her heart and mind throughout her life. It gives her back a sense of being and understanding too. Her life becomes worthwhile, but only after many shattering revelations that leave her breathless and shocked.
All good tales have their share of good folk and bad. This story is no exception. Sinful Relations by K.A. Standen is a delightfully enjoyable and well written book. It is an easy read with much humor too, despite the sadness of Sarah’s life. I loved the humour amid what is otherwise a tragic story. The outcome was great. I loved this book and would recommend it without hesitation.
