Marc Jedel's three novels in the Silicon Valley Cozy Mystery Series Box Set (Books 1-3) are contemporary cozy mystery stories. Marty Golden is an amateur sleuth. He is also a software engineer analyzing software code for a start-up company, "Rover," which makes driverless cars. Marty cannot resist solving mysteries. His imagination goes into overdrive when he stumbles across dead bodies! There are three murder mysteries in this set. In Book 1, "Uncle and Ants," a delivery drone veers off course and crashes into traffic, causing a most unusual car accident. Marty is curious why the drone's collision prevention system failed. He soon finds himself drawn into a murder investigation. In Book 2, "Chutes and Ladder," Marty chaperones his niece Skye at a Girl Scouts Campout in the Santa Cruz mountains. In the nearby woods, he finds a dead man. In Book 3, "Serf and Turf," Marty is at his niece Skye's soccer championship games. One of the referees is found dead.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Marc Jedel's cozy mystery stories in the Silicon Valley Cozy Mystery Series Box Set for their great characters and well-crafted and hilarious plotlines. I particularly liked the quirky character of software engineer Marty Golden, the amateur solver of murder mysteries. He is a daydreamer with a rich imagination and a keen eye for detail. I loved the suspense and the humor of the awkward situations in which Marty finds himself. I was hooked on the stories as I followed Marty's thoughts, emotions, and far-out and incredibly funny theories, as he pursues possible suspects. I liked Marty's tenacity, and his determination not to let mistakes and misunderstandings stop him in his work as a software engineer, as an amateur sleuth, or in his personal life. I loved the comedy, the drama, the tension of Marty's interactions with his nieces Skye and Megan, and his misadventures with their dog Buddy! Marc Jedel's three cozy mysteries are delightful reading, fast-paced, intriguing, and with an extraordinary amateur sleuth in Marty Golden!
