Shades of Truth is C.L. Stockton’s Book 1 in his Summerlynn Secrets Series. It’s a brilliant action adventure. Cadrian Summerlynn’s life begins just like that of any ordinary girl, but having dinner with her father changes her life into something she least expects. He hands her a purse and tells her to take it to Lisbon. She is apprehensive about going, not wanting her father to face a mob by himself. Lucas Colton becomes her protector, asking her what her father had just given her because the men chasing them are after it. Inside the purse is an address in her father’s handwriting: 1324 Bottomsleigh Street. Along with it is a pendant that she has not seen since the day her father gave it to her on her sixteenth birthday. Lucas is to accompany her to Lisbon, but Cadrian is not sure whether to trust him as he is infernally difficult to wrestle information from.
Any further telling about the story could be detrimental to your reading pleasure. If you are weary of those high-octane mystery adventures and thrillers, Shades of Truth is sure to stand out. It has pivotal scenes that are surprising, and the best part is that it doesn’t linger in every scene and transitions quickly enough so that you don’t lose interest. Will Cadrian end up in a romance with Lucas? This is another aspect of this story that makes it interesting. Considering all the dangers the two are facing, C.L. Stockton manages to insert a romantic angle as a breather. There are plenty of things to look forward to in this new series, including whether or not Cadrian’s father perished by the chasing mob. It’s an exciting action adventure that you will feel invested in once you start reading.
