Lovers of romance novels will find G. A. Beckett’s Shades of Jane an enthralling read. Beckett unfolded the narration delicately, allowing me to experience the characters' emotions. The first-person perspective and the juxtaposing of the characters' traits made it easy for me to connect with them. Beckett’s vivid depictions colorfully brought the scenes to life. It felt like I was right next to the characters on a fascinating tour around the world, having a feel of the uniqueness and cultural nuances of every place they visited and its people. Shades of Jane is not the usual romantic story about a Prince Charming coming to the rescue of a damsel in distress, or two smitten souls fighting for their love against all odds. This is a tale that will take you on a wild ride, exploring the extraordinary and unconventional forces and possibilities of love.
