Servants Of The End by Shawn Finn is an apocalyptic magical story by Shawn Finn. King Bardazel is desperate to find a new realm for his people. The Grohldym would attack the city, killing hundreds of people and taking some captive. Only one woman had ever returned from being captive. Prince Nieloch reveals the woman is Glithinie and had been pregnant with his child. He explains Glithinie knew of a man who lived in the wastelands. Skealfa, an elite warrior for the king, was tasked to find the man. Skealfa located Czarstostryx but didn’t trust him after seeing him conjure light and sandstorms. When Nieloch discovers his father had not tried to find his child, he decides to pay Czarstostryx a visit. Skealfa and a team of elite warriors escort the stranger to a temple he believes will allow them to escape the Grohldym’s continuing slaughter of the kingdom.
Shawn Finn incorporates magic, superhero warriors, and romance into the story. Skealfa’s indomitable spirit to destroy Grohldym was fueled by revenge. King Bardazel’s disregard for his son’s despair was heartless. Czarstostryx’s intentions shocked me, especially after he promised the prince that he would search for Glithinie’s baby. Ironically, the wizard was aware of the child, and some of its magical power to prevent detection. This book is filled with vivid detail of the fates of every character. The supporting characters were impressive in development and complemented the main characters well. The transitions in the scenes and perspectives were clear. The action on every page kept me filled with hope. The amount of brutal violence was shocking. The ending of the book was nothing like I expected. I recommend Servants Of The End to readers who enjoy stories with lots of action where the fates of every character are uncertain until the end.
