Seekers: The Winds of Change is a fantasy book by Troy Knowlton. The young but capable Seeker Tryas had just returned to the city of Arga to deliver an artifact he had procured (stolen) from the Koterrans when he got the nagging feeling that something was amiss. His fears were confirmed once he entered the Archive and found a slain guard. Meanwhile, Oren, a fellow Seeker, had the fight of his life fending off a deadly assassin sent to kill the sovereign Lunaris. The assassin fled once Tryas rushed into the meeting chamber and Lunaris was saved. Lunaris issues new orders to both his Seekers after the attempt. Tryas is to set out and find the conduit and Oren is to discover the identity and motive of the assassin. On their respective journeys, they will meet new unlikely friends and conquer daunting foes, but the true challenge will be to still their hearts in the face of coming adversities and tragedies. Will the famed Seekers live up to their reputation? Or will they fail in their mission and return to dust?

Seekers: The Winds of Change was overall a very good read. It had a solid plot, an interesting fantasy world, great lore, and plenty of action. The real beauty of the plot lies in all the unique places that each main character has to visit to complete their goal. I always prefer my fantasy books to have a lot of detours and points of interest scattered about as a way to keep things interesting. The world that Troy Knowlton created was another highlight for me and I appreciate his efforts in creating such a detailed world. Action scenes are abundant and the scenes themselves were enjoyable. The choreography was spectacular as I had no problem picturing blades, fists, and all manner of weaponry being used in these battles. One other thing I liked about the battles was how unpredictable they were as the main characters weren’t one-man killing machines. Instead, they were formidable yet vulnerable fighters and this meant a character could be seriously wounded or even die during a battle. I'd recommend this book to readers that love the fantasy genre.

The Argan Empire was on the verge of destruction, and only Oren and Tyras could save it. Young and inexperienced, Tyras and Oren were Seekers with a huge responsibility on their shoulders. They were given a secret mission that would prevent the war from spreading further and even improve matters. However, as always, there was a catch. Neither Oren nor Tyras were expecting to find horrible creatures, conspiracies, and secrets to hinder their path to success. Although they would find both help and friends along the way, the journey ahead was treacherous. Would Oren and Tyras complete their missions and make it back alive? Or were they doomed for failure from the start?

Epic fantasies are not usually my cup of tea, but Seekers was different from the very beginning. I love a novel that starts with action, and Seekers did not disappoint. We meet one of our protagonists in the thick of the action and get a glimpse of his personality. After that, it was all smooth sailing for me. Oren and Tyras were two very different young men with a similar task. While both of them had prepared for their duties as Seekers their whole lives, the conditions they encountered on their journey shocked them. Troy Knowlton was able to get genuine reactions from the boys and that was what helped me form a connection with them. I wanted to know what would happen next, would they succeed, and if all that trouble was worth it. I loved Squall’s humor, loved Serena’s tenacity, and Oren’s vulnerability. I highly recommend it!

Both Seekers travel through Tiarna, facing prejudice, anger, and hidden dangers as they work to fulfill their quests. The lessons learned along the way make each one stronger, wiser, and more aware of the greater purpose in their lives. They encounter love, friendship, traitors, and true friends.

Seekers: The Winds of Change by Troy Knowlton creates a stunning world with layers of intrigue as each side fights its own battle for power and freedom. Unlikely alliances are formed when the Seekers embark on their missions, and each interaction leads the reader further into the mysteries of the story where unlikely ties are formed, and betrayals are endured. The tensions in each plot twist are well planned, and the writing is clear and bold, making for a pleasant and engaging read. The author takes the reader deep into the lands of Tiarna with ease as he presents scene after scene full of conspiracy and peril, humor and hope. One of the heroes finds love while the other finds the courage to let go. In the end, impending war seems unavoidable and the reader hopes for more of the adventures of the Seekers.

If they succeed, they may be able to prevent a war and untold devastation.

Troy Knowlton has written an interesting and entertaining tale with Seekers: The Winds of Change. While similar to other epic and high fantasy books I have read, it stands out because the author really takes the time to flesh out the main characters and make them worth reading about. The author has also created a vivid world in which the protagonists live. It is a scary place in need of heroes and Tyras and Oren are perfect for the job. The two leads are both determined to fulfill their quests and know that the journey will be perilous, but they are eager to prove themselves, even as they deal with their own issues. They are relatable in their struggles and the reader can sympathize with them. They really grow as the story unfolds. I think that this would appeal to teenage young adults and epic fantasy fans. I would recommend it.
