To supplement his meager allowance, Jim decided to deliver newspapers. One home in his route was the Warden’s house. Jim feels creeped out by this particular house, but he has to deliver newspapers to it. One day, after delivering the paper to the Warden’s house, Jim saw something move in the attic of the house. He tried very hard to look again but couldn't see anything anymore, so he decided to investigate. Every day after delivering the papers, he would try to sneak a look at what was in the attic, but to no avail. Then the Warden decided to invite Jim for dinner and tell him what was in that attic. What did the Warden tell Jim in Secrets of the Warden's House by James M. Dixon?
First, I love the drawings. Second, I liked the style in which the story was written; it was simple but gripping. Third, it was full of lessons that might come in handy some day so I recommend this book to everyone. Reading it was exciting and it made me want to read very fast so I could get to the Secrets of the Warden's House. James M. Dixon made the lesson of the story really stand out. Sometimes the most trivial things that parents and teachers tell us are the nuggets of wisdom that might eventually save our lives. The ending was kind of sad but it was perfect, and I totally understand the ‘what ifs’ of Jim. The setting, plot, and characters were well developed, despite the story being short.
