Secret Warriors, Psychic Spies: Redux by Roger Mannon is a compelling memoir that opens the door to what happened in the CIA's Stargate Project, a government-backed program on psychic phenomena. Though the author has previously written a fictionalized version of the events as he experienced them, he has repackaged the information so that it has only facts. If you are at all fascinated by the possibility of psychic abilities, leaving the body, and transporting yourself to other locations or altered realities, you will love this book. It does help unlock and explain some of the mysteries of the mind and how consciousness works on different levels. Though you may or may not accept the premise of psychic ability, this book encourages an open mind toward it and acts as a foundation for proving that psychic phenomena are real, at least in some cases. The fact that the US Army conducted experiments and trained soldiers in psychic warfare may surprise you, and this is the first of many reasons you may find this book interesting.
Secret Warriors, Psychic Spies acts as a primer for psychic phenomena and is told by an author who relays his personal experiences with an experiment. A healthy dose of skepticism on the reader's part is understood and accepted, but as you read, you may find yourself being more open to the ideas presented. I like Mannon's honesty and how he explains why he needed to rework his fictional account into a factual one. Whatever your take on the paranormal is, you will find this an absorbing and intriguing non-fiction read. His explanations of his connection to the wolf are compelling as well. Though he states in the book that he doesn't place much importance on the personal aspects of the story, it still comes across in an appealing, unique way to deliver good writing on a popular subject. If you're looking for a fact-filled dive into the paranormal from someone with inside information and personal experience, who isn't afraid to name-drop, Secret Warriors, Psychic Spies: Redux by Roger Mannon is a must-read.
