Scoochie and Skiddles: Fun at Gramma's tells the story of two cousins who love to be together and have lots of adventures. This time they go to Gramma's house and between the three of them they spend a day full of enjoyment. Among their activities, they even have a tea party. If there are complications in the day, Gramma will always know what to do and how to make others feel special. This book is about enjoyment, imagination, and companionship. Families can be very diverse, but despite that, love will always be the aspect that remains constant. Author Tom Tracy teaches us that the united family is courteous, helps each other, shares, and shows love not only with words but also with actions.
Scoochie and Skiddles is a lovely book that I appreciated for its message of family togetherness. Visiting grandparents is very important because it strengthens family ties. Older people can share knowledge and love with their grandchildren in a unique way because they have the confidence that only experience can provide. Tom Tracy gives the example of how Gramma handles any situation where there is a conflict. He reminds us to take advantage of the time that can be spent with grandparents. With illustrations by Dustin James, the book shows how living with others can become an adventure if creativity is used and if there is the right attitude. Tracy shares with us an amusing story that reinforces family values such as respect, kindness, and honesty.
