Sara Flutterbye is a scientist and professor at the university in the big city. She has just moved into the city in Sara Flutterbye and the Spooky Woods by John Hallis. She goes to a little café, Birdie’s, and introduces herself as someone who studies butterflies for a living and has traveled all over the world, studying and lecturing about them. She has heard rumors about the mysterious and giant butterflies that live in the Spooky Woods and has decided to find out for herself. Abby, the waitress at Birdie’s, warns Sara against camping in the Spooky Woods to search for the butterflies. Abby and her friend, Leisha, are genuinely worried for Sara and they ask their butterfly friend, Tanager, to watch over Sara. Leisha and Abby know that Sara is in trouble from Tanager. Will they be able to rescue Sara in time? Will Sara be able to find the giant butterflies in the Spooky Woods?
The story is enchanting and whimsical and children will love Sara's adventures in the Spooky Woods. The illustrations are bright and colorful and they give a good pace and movement to the story, bringing the characters alive to readers. For all kids who love adventure and whimsy, this storybook is a must-read. All the characters are adorable and well portrayed, and will fascinate readers with their magical qualities. It is a good bedtime storybook and parents and grandparents will enjoy reading it out loud to their kids and grandkids.
