Jodie Sealy is on a quest for self-discovery. But according to her Grandmomma Helen, Jodie is full of “sass and vinegar.” In Saint Agnes’ Garden, Diana Lynn Klueh tells the story of a young girl's struggle to become a rose instead of a dandelion. Grandmomma Helen decides that Sacred Heart Academy in Biloxi, Mississippi is where Jodie belongs. She believes the nuns there will refine Jodie into a proper young lady. While at the Academy, Jodie decides it is her destiny to join the order of the Sisters of Mercy. However, things aren't that simple. Tensions rise between Grandmomma Helen and Momma, and as a result, Momma and Jodie move to Terre Haute, Indiana where Grandmomma Delores lives. But is Indiana really where Jodie is meant to be?

Choosing the right path involves a great deal of soul-searching. In Saint Agnes' Garden, Diana Lynn Klueh shares a message of self-awareness. Every individual is unique, like the variety of flowers on Earth. The story's pace and poignant backstories allow the reader to get to know the characters and become invested in their lives. Klueh presents protagonists who recognize their imperfections and share their fears, making them even more relatable. The portrayal of the setting effectively captures the period. Reminiscent of biographical fiction, Saint Agnes’ Garden recounts Jodie's daily experiences and culminates with her success in her quest. This book explores themes of family, friendship, spirituality, and faith. Readers seeking insightful books on inspiration and personal growth should not miss Saint Agnes’ Garden!
