Roo's Stew is an animal picture book for children written by Ashley Cason and illustrated by Patrick Corrigan. Roo and her cockatoo, Sue, were the very best of friends. They went everywhere together, including the village market and the zoo. Then something happened. Sue wasn’t her usual cheerful cockatoo self. She seemed withdrawn and sad, and then she flew to her cage and stayed in bed. Roo didn’t know what to do. She missed her friend. Was it bird flu? Roo was determined to help Sue get better. She even thought she’d make a healthy stew, but what should she put in it?
Roo's Stew is a humorous rhyming story about a kangaroo and her best friend, a cockatoo. Kids will have a great time following the two friends as they live their lives. Roo’s first attempt at making a stew for Sue will have everyone laughing, especially at the vision of the shoe sitting in the pot of gray and ugly stew. Can Sue get better? What ingredients should Roo put in her new and improved stew? Kids get an introduction to nutrition and its health benefits in this whimsical tale while having fun. Patrick Corrigan’s bright and colorful illustrations work brilliantly with the story and bring the two best friends to life.
