Rob The Vatican by Robert Gallant is a thriller, mystery, adventure, and action novel all packed into one brilliant package. Craig Reynolds is given the title of a master thief for a reason; there is no lock that he cannot crack. He may be the only person in the world who can break into the most secure country in the world: The Vatican. He wants to retire, but before that, he wants to break into the Vatican and steal its treasures. The opportunity arises when he meets Darlena once again and gets in touch with a priest at the Vatican who just happens to have a map of its catacombs. Even though Craig is a smart man, he has no idea danger is brewing in the background. There is a conspiracy, and Craig is at the center of it all. To make matters worse, Detective Meier is hot on his heels and wants to end Craig’s last heist before it even begins. Can he pull off this last heist before it's too late?
Craig is a joy to read. Robert Gallant has created the perfect anti-hero and makes sure you love him. The relationship between Craig and Darlena is a little strange but somehow it makes sense. The action is intense, and something is happening at all times. There are chases and kidnappings, and to top it all off, there is romance too. There is no dull moment in the story and the plot begins to thicken early on, and as it does, we see different sides of Craig and why he is the way he is. Gallant is a magician with words and creates scenarios that make sense. He leaves out little hints for you to pick up or look for, and then he connects the dots most satisfactorily. To make Rob The Vatican even more irresistible, Gallant transported me to Italy with just his words. I cannot express how much I loved this novel!
