River Wye Dead & Breakfast: A Chief Inspector Cam Fergus Mystery by Frances Powell is a murder mystery set in a small town where things are deadly silent during the festive season. Chief Inspector Cam Fergus was just trying to make things work in the small town of Ross-on-Wye. People in this sleepy town are preparing for their Christmas and New Year festivities when a murderer goes on a spree that shakes them to their core. Their peaceful existence is shattered when a man’s body is found and the housekeeper of a new B&B goes missing. Now it is up to Cam Fergus to find out who the murderer is and where the housekeeper is. He has to fight some of his demons, look for clues, and make sure that the little town of Ross-on-Wye is safe once again. Can he do it? Can he even find out what happened in the first place?
Wow, this was a fast-paced action thriller that had me on the edge of my seat and waiting with bated breath to discover what would happen next. The story is carefully woven and intricate enough to pique your interest. Cam Fergus is such a smooth character; I love him even more after this novel. He has grown a lot, he hated autumn, but now he takes his job very, very seriously. I enjoyed how he tackled this situation, how smartly he moved through the story and tried to find an answer to the mystery. This is a masterpiece where I experienced an adrenaline rush in almost every chapter. To say that I enjoyed this book would be an understatement. It was absolutely brilliant!
