Then her stepdaughter returns home and brings an Ouija board, unknowingly unleashing terror on the household. Strange shadows, cold spots, and a terrifying laugh haunt Tasia, forcing her to move her family out. Staying at her neighbor's house, Tasia needs to discover what happened in her house before she owned it. Can she figure out the secrets of her Sacramento house? What happened to the widow who lived there before? And now that Tasia is a widow, must she pay a price to get her life back on track?
River City Widows by Theresa Halvorsen is a genuinely hair-raising read. Written in the first person from the main protagonist's point of view, the story grabs your attention right at the start. It is descriptive enough to allow your imagination to run away with you, with creative world-building that makes you feel a part of the story. The characters are second to none, likable, and realistically developed with plenty of depth. This is a story that will take you on a ride you never imagined, a ride that will make you shiver as the house's mysteries and secrets are revealed. With a bit of romance thrown in for good measure, this is a thrilling and enjoyable story. If you enjoy paranormal tales, this book is for you.
