Like Robyn, I remember that feeling of freedom when you have a bike. I can’t imagine suddenly being unable to ride my bike because gangs use them for control. This book drew me in from the start; the fact that Robyn was not only keeping herself alive but her sister as well really struck a chord with me. I am an older sister too, and I know I would do the same things Robyn does to stay safe.

Nate, oh well, he is a typical bad boy, who might not be all that bad once you get to know him. It took me a while to warm up to him. I mean Robyn was basically forced to make the alliance she did with him. The chemistry between the two, however, was enjoyable from the start. The flow of this book is good, the run for the dawn is intense! This lovely story is not your typical young adult dystopian book. It has a fresh concept and breathes something new into the genre. Overall, two thumbs up on this one. This book is a great read, perfect for quarantine or anytime!

Our central protagonist is Robyn Kinley, who has lived through the dangerous time of the Pulse, and now sees only violence and disarray on the streets around her. Those riders who call themselves the Independents police the streets of River Ridge City and try to purge it of its violent gangs. So when Robyn comes into possession of a bike of her own, she finds herself in the presence of former gang member Nate Cooper, and a new life begins as a rider, along with its many dangers.

Author Alyssa Thiessen has crafted a Christian science fiction and dystopian tale which is sure to be highly engaging and filled with thrills for its young adult audience. I was impressed by the moral message, which enhances rather than detracts from the central plotline, and inspires the central protagonist Robyn to have faith and courage in the position which life has thrown at her. The atmospheric descriptions of the post-Pulse world are also excellently penned, revealing a dark and dingy world with danger at every corner, one which is sure to keep readers turning pages. Robyn and Nate have an interesting dynamic and I enjoyed the development of their relationship, filled with intrigues and evocative personal moments. Overall, I would highly recommend Ride To Daylight for those seeking an uplifting but still exciting and engaging YA Christian read.
