Gangs rule the city, and the God-fearing Independents are the only ones brave enough to defy them in this riveting young adult post-apocalyptic novel, Ride to Daylight by Alyssa Thiessen. Robyn has been in charge of her six-year-old sister since all technology came to a screeching halt two years ago. The gangs took control of the city of River Ridge, and the residents live in fear of them. Since mechanical transportation is obsolete, bikes are a coveted possession. However, only two factions have them; the gangs and the Independents. When Robyn takes one from a dying Independent, her life takes a drastic turn. Spotted by Nate, a member of the local gang, the Grims, Robyn must do his bidding or there will be dire consequences. Unexpectedly, Nate does not turn Robyn over to the Grims but instead has her riding with an Independent. Unfortunately, the gang discovers Nate's involvement with Robyn and the Independents, and they all must run for their lives. But where can they go? Do they have any hope of surviving?
Ride to Daylight by Alyssa Thiessen is an exciting dystopian post-apocalyptic novel with the undertones of a Christian theme. This is an amazing novel! It is an exhilarating and breathtaking adventure, where the precepts of unconditional love bring hope to those lost in a world of anarchy. Skillfully written, the story and characters are fully developed and engaging. The plot flows at a brisk pace, building a compelling story arc. Brimming with action, suspense, and drama, the story comes to an electrifying conclusion. Young adults who enjoy inspirational books based on redemption and faith in God in the most trying times will not want to miss this post-apocalyptic thriller.
