Revere Me: Fleeing From The Fae King by Lina Jubilee is a fantasy romance story with an added touch of adventure. Edony is supposed to be chaperoning her cousin, Neela, at the annual Fete ball. Every year, humans would attend a ball held in the castle of the Fae. History and law dictated everyone had to wear a mask. Rejection of a Fae proposal would result in death by the Minotaur that roamed the labyrinth. Caught without her mask, the Fae promises not to turn her in for breaking the law. Edony feels a powerful attraction to Brecc and allows him to seduce her. When Edony discovers he is the Fae King, she runs away from him and enters the labyrinth. Brecc wants to make her his bride. If the two were to be married, the kingdom’s protection from the Minotaur would fall and everyone would be in danger. Can Brecc ever find the woman he loves? How will Edony survive the danger of the labyrinth?
Lina Jubilee created an atmosphere of apprehension in Revere Me: Fleeing From The Fae King. Edony feels responsible for Neela’s safety, and her distrust of the Fae grows. I could understand her motivation, especially since nobody knew what happened to the spouses of the Fae. I would want to know where my family members disappeared to and why they are never heard from again. Brecc’s irrational temper would alarm me, just like it did his closest family members. This is an unpredictable story that builds suspense and changes direction so often it kept me glued to the book. The personalities of the supporting characters entertained me and fit with each situation. The vivid imagery of the surroundings within the labyrinth and the details of the Fae castle made every moment memorable. Jubilee engaged every sense I have, from smell to taste, with how well the story portrayed every moment. Fantasy and romance novel readers will enjoy Revere Me. This story will be one that I know I will keep on my favorite list.
