It is cast in a futuristic steam punk setting with a web of excitement in each paragraph. Lady Arabella Trunkett is thrown into a world of suspicion and questions when her father is kidnapped. Is it politically driven? Is the yonder countryman to blame? She aims to find out where her beloved father is and to bring him safely home. Fighting her way through lands one can only dream of, warding off air pirates and slave traders, her persistence carries her onward in her quest. Assassins abound in the shadows, waiting...waiting... One man can help her but their past could very well be the deciding factor. First book in a series.
First of all, I love steam punk! The author's imagination and own love of all that is nautical contributes to the realistic feel of the story. What an incredible beginning to a series! I felt as though I was there myself, steam punk garb and adventure at my toes. The author has a way of drawing the reader into her tale, making them a part of the cast or even the scenery. It was easy to close my eyes and feel the air, breathe the smells. I think that this would be a fantastic audio book and an even better movie. Who needs Harry Potter or Twilight when you can have 'Airship Adventure Chronicles'! I think this series is going to be the trend for something fierce when discovered and I look forward to seeing where this wonderfully talented author goes with it all!
