Relatively Happy: Relativity Series, Book 3 is a contemporary chick-lit novel written by Whitney Dineen. While it’s the third book in the series, the author includes enough background information for this novel to be enjoyed as a standalone. As far as her friends are concerned, Sarah’s got her life in fine shape. Her organic farm is thriving, and her daily morning Sun Salutations leave her energized and thrilled with life. The summer is just starting up, and her farm stand is ready. Likewise, her new vegan cafe has her enthused and ready to bring healthy lifestyles to even more people. The cafe is being set up in one of the yurts she put up on her property for clients who come for detoxification and just to get back to nature. So what’s missing?
Whitney Dineen’s Relatively Happy puts the focus in this series on Sarah Hastings, Cat Masterton’s childhood friend and boon companion. Sarah is a fascinating character: part Earth Mother, natural living Goddess and marvelously clueless when it comes to romance -- or is it that in the preceding two books the reader can’t help but see Sarah as a force complete in herself? I loved seeing more deeply what makes Sarah tick, and her interactions with Terraz, her spirit guide, are marvelous. Dineen’s character also becomes infinitely more human in this third book. Knowing that she secretly does crave the bacon and fast food she’s given up, she still dreams of the corn dogs (three of them) she ate at that fair, and still prefers real to ersatz coffee gives her dimension and allows the reader an empathetic connection. Watching as she tries to figure out which man has been sent to her by the universe is both comedic and touching. Dineen’s plot is well-crafted and engaging, and her characters are marvelous. Relatively Happy: Relativity Series, Book 3 is most highly recommended.
