Rain No Evil by Michele Zirkle Marcum is a paranormal novel with powerful hints at faith, love, weakness, and redemption. Alex and Savannah Templeton are undergoing the worst period of their marriage, with tests of infidelity. Afraid that they may gradually drift apart, Savannah puts her faith in God and prays for a sign, but instead of receiving a sign from God, something unusual happens — there is an inexplicable leak in their home and no one can find a solution for it. The narrative features shadows, premonitions, and strange happenings which continue to threaten the sanity of their home and their marriage. But God hasn’t left the Templetons alone, His deliverance comes through a powerful revelation and the intervention of an exorcist.

Rain No Evil is a beautiful odyssey of faith, a story that follows a woman’s journey towards finding God and connecting deeply with Him. But in this story, the reader is introduced to the incredible truth that we are the creators of our happiness. The story is well-crafted with subplots featuring Alex’s police work and a beautiful commentary of life in the neighborhood. The first person narrative voice is absorbing, pulling readers into the narrator’s world view and making it feel like they are part of the story. The author also uses journaling to deepen characterization, heighten the sense of conflict, and enhance the plot. There are elements of horror in the story, but its beauty lies in the light of faith the author communicates. I enjoyed the simplicity and beauty of Michele Zirkle Marcum’s writing. She is a gifted writer with the unique talent of making readers believe the impossible.
