“What falls in winter but never gets hurt? Snow!” Who would have guessed? Well, perhaps the Peeps guessed. They do have a sense of humor. Punny Jokes To Tell Your Peeps! (Book 9) by Lisa Ayotte shows that by twisting around a few words and phonetically changing their sounds you have the power to create an amazingly funny punchline. Jokes and puns don’t have to be complicated to be a lot of fun, and, yes, funny, too. The simpler the better as it’s then easier to remember. Nothing worse than a jokester who forgets the punchline. I know I’ve don’t that many a time. Haven’t you? And, what about some Peeps illustrations to help visualize the joke or the pun? Visualizing always improves memory skills. Did you know you can learn from jokes and puns? You can improve your reading skills and vocabulary; you can improve your memory skills, and you can strengthen your critical thinking. So, let’s get those peeps joking and punning around with you.
Lisa Ayotte’s book, Punny Jokes To Tell Your Peeps!, is the latest in her Punny Jokes series. This author has an amazing sense of humor and just when you think she’s exhausted her repertoire of jokes and puns, along comes another collection. The jokes and puns are simple, often no more than plays on vocabulary. These are all family-friendly jokes and puns, clean and full of subtle humor. I love the illustrations: the Peeps have outdone themselves again! At the end of the book, the author encourages young readers (and those humorously young at heart) to create their jokes and puns, and she provides suggestions on how to create one’s own silly punny peeps. Her final words are prophetic and so true: “YOU can change the world, one peep at a time, by being a good friend and showing kindness to others every day!!!” Loved it!
