Anna is a prima ballerina in one of the most prestigious dance schools in the nation and has finally achieved the pinnacle: the starring role in Swan Lake. Her entire life is dance, and she's sacrificed everything to be here: school, friends, a social life, and pretty much everything else in life. To some, it seems that she's sacrificed too much to achieve her dream, but to her, it's a no-brainer: she's a dancer. Dance is her life. But when nightmares of a mistake at her first performance in The Nutcracker come back, she wonders if she's given up too much to achieve her dream. Has she? Is it possible that Anna was meant to do more than dance in her life? Lindsay DeRollo brings you the compelling story of what it means to be a dancer in the short story Prima Ballerina.
I enjoyed Prima Ballerina because it gave me a look at a life I don't know. It's one thing to sit in an audience and enjoy a performance, but we really have no idea what it takes for those performers to get onstage. I had no idea how much time, effort, and sacrifice it took to be a performer. Author Lindsay DeRollo gives readers an inside look at the life and mind of a performer. It's an intriguing eye opener that I enjoyed reading. It's an excellent, realistic story of what it takes to be on stage. An excellent, informative, and entertaining read that I highly recommend.
