Prague: ARTEL Style is a travel guidebook by Karen Feldman which takes an extremely unique look at the city. In this updated version of the guide for 2013 and beyond, Feldman shares her unique experiences of living and working in the city since 1994. Her own couture company, the titular ARTEL, provides the backdrop for Feldman’s exploration of the unseen elements of the city. Her recommendations include great hotels, cultural elements like theatre, relaxing spas and truly entertaining bars, restaurants and nightlife. This approach takes readers away from the usual spots of interest and offers practical inside information on getting to know the real Prague, as well as finding hidden gems that are off the usual tourist tracks.
It is always important in a travel guide to feel that the author really knows the city inside out, and Karen Feldman takes that sentiment to heart in her writing. Prague: ARTEL Style is a truly personal depiction of a beautiful city with much to offer, combining the necessary factual information with a conversational insider’s view on getting the best of the city. The photographs and maps included in this guide are an invaluable resource too, and I particularly enjoyed the section on Secret Gardens, which opened my eyes to a part of Prague I never even knew existed. Prague: ARTEL Style is a unique and thorough guide which celebrates every aspect of this great Czech city, and I’d recommend it to anyone who is thinking of embarking on a fascinating adventure there.
