Poochy arrives in a big city and is looking for a home in the children's storybook Poochy, written by Noa Geyer and illustrated by Ami Rubinger. He is looking for a family to love and, in the meantime, he is thinking of having a nice bone or a steak. Poochy is hungry and alone. Suddenly he hears the sound of a bark and he rushes to the nearby park. It looks like a popular place and everyone seems to be busy with one another. Poochy decides to head in the direction of a delicious smell, thinking he will be able to have a decent meal. But there is an army of cats eager to fight. So where does Poochy go from there? Will Poochy finally find a home?
The story is funny and it is entertaining to read about Poochy’s adventures. The illustrations are vivid and adorable and they give a good pace and movement to the story and make the characters and scenes come alive for young readers. It is a cute story for bedtime story-telling and all animal and dog lovers will feel sorry for Poochy initially. It is also good for read-aloud and story-telling sessions in classrooms and school libraries. I like the way the author has woven the message subtly through the story of Poochy. Poochy is charming and memorable and his adventures will put a smile on the faces of young readers. It is also heartwarming to see Poochy’s dreams finally coming true.
