Peril in the Park (A Jamie Quinn Mystery) by Barbara Venkataraman is the third in the Jamie Quinn Mystery series. In this novel, Jamie Quinn, a lawyer who gets involved in unlikely murder mysteries, is once again the somewhat unwilling participant in two mysteries. A park vandal is creating havoc in the park system managed by Jamie's boyfriend, Kip. Kip was hired to be the park director over other candidates and has made himself unpopular with many of the employees and powerful members of the city council. When a private investigator is found dead and Jamie starts to get threatening messages from "ICU", she must untangle the mystery and protect Kip and herself.
In Peril in the Park (A Jamie Quinn Mystery), Barbara Venkataraman resurrects a compelling cast of characters that help advance the story. Duke is a ne'er do well private investigator who has helped Jamie in the past and has proven time and again to be a good friend and very competent investigator. "Best friend forever" and fellow attorney, Grace, figures prominently in the story as we learn more about Jamie's father who is working to obtain a visa to immigrate to the United States from Nicaragua. As disjointed as all of these story lines seem to be, Venkataraman does a great job weaving them together into a cohesive story. Peril in the Park (A Jamie Quinn Mystery) is another good book. Once again, this book whets my appetite for the next in the series!
